Recovers Over 15% of production.
The Department of Commerce announced on Wednesday that manufacturing in the United States had continued to grow as states began reopening following the mass closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Department stated that orders to American factories had rebounded at a faster rate than anticipated with growth of 15.8% last month, after falling 16.7% in March and another 18.1% in April.
Of the 18 tracked manufacturing industries, 13 reported growth in June. The industries with the largest growth were food, beverage, and tobacco. Computers and electronic production also fared well. It is unclear how far American manufacturing will continue to recover as production was stagnating prior to the pandemic due to the ongoing trade negotiations with China.
